What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) creates the appearance of a full head of hair by carefully and meticulously placing microdots of pigment amongst existing hair, replicating natural hair follicles.

When delivered by a skilled practitioner, SMP can restore receded hairlines, thicken remaining hair, camouflage hair transplant scars and create the look of close-cropped hair.

SMP is non-invasive, suitable for men and women, and, unlike other hair loss treatments, it’s affordable. But the best part is this procedure gives you immediate results with no downtime!

THE SMP – HAIR LOSS TREATMENT FOR MEN?

SMP (Scalp Micropigmentation) is a highly detailed process that creates an incredibly natural looking simulation of micro hairs. Our sophisticated scalp application is administered to the head, usually over 2-3 sessions spaced about a week apart, to create what many are now calling the ultimate modern solution for hair loss.

For sufferers of regular hair loss or alopecia, SMPoffers an effective cosmetic hair loss solution. Competent application of the SMP technique results in the appearance of a cropped hairstyle, regardless of your hair loss situation. Even clients who are completely bald can have a natural looking hairstyle again.

The SMP technique involves no surgery, no scarring and no hair pieces. Very little ongoing maintenance is required, although many of our clients do return to our clinic from time to time following treatment to adapt their new style. Our consultations and treatments are backed by our unrivalled knowledge and experience of the Scalp Micropigmentation. process, and our world-leading client aftercare and support program.

WHAT CAN SMP DO FOR YOU?

The SMP technique has helped thousands of men worldwide to achieve a youthful, modern appearance, whatever the pattern or extent of their hair loss. SMP can:

  • Create the appearance of a fuller, thicker head of hair
  • Recreate a natural, more youthful frontal hairline and side profiles
  • Permanently camouflage the symptoms of alopecia, however severe or recurrent
  • Camouflage hair transplant scars from FUT or FUE surgery
  • Hide birthmarks and accident-related scars or burns
  • Work as a combination solution with a hair transplant to provide additional density

SMP IS MORE THAN A HAIR LOSS TREATMENT. IT IS A NEW WAY OF LIFE.

If you have ever been lucky enough to experience an event in your life that has made you feel incredible, you’d probably appreciate how it would feel to regain your hair after years of feeling inadequate.

We try to maintain contact with our past clients for many reasons, partly because we derive a great deal of satisfaction from knowing how our technique is improving people’s lives. It is extremely common for our clients to report that they have made many positive changes following treatment, due to a massive improvement in their own self-image. The most changes that our clients report are:

  • Joining a gym or starting to exercise more often
  • Quitting smoking
  • Re-styling themselves with a new wardrobe
  • Putting more effort into their relationships or starting new ones
  • Being more sociable, having more friends and feeling more respected
  • Making improvements to their career prospects

The self-perpetuating cycle is now one of positive feelings, ambition and happiness. The better they look, the more positively they feel about themselves, and the more they do to improve their lives.

Heightened confidence and improved self-image are powerful emotions that affect virtually every aspect of a man’s life, and can lead to better health and wellbeing, a more active social life, more engaging relationships, a stronger sex drive and enhanced career prospects.

For many of our clients this really is a turning point, a realization that nothing can stop them from doing whatever they put their minds to.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

We apply pigments at the dermal level of your scalp – creating the appearance of greater hair density. SMP can be used anywhere hair is thinning: the frontal and temple hairlines, the crown, bald spots, patches, or even scars left from the Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) surgery. SMP is ideal for men and women in early stages of thinning to advances hair loss.

A NON -SURGICAL, HAIR RESTORATION SOLUTION

THE PROCESS

SMP is a hair restoration alternative for people who seek a non-surgical solution. Our practitioners are specially trained in scalp micropigmentation (SMP), a technique where a proprietary formula of multiple shades of pigment is applied to the scalp with micro-fine needles. The HairAge formula contains multiple shades of pigment across thousands of tiny impressions on the skin, giving the appearance of real hair. This is a comfortable, semi-permanent procedure, offering full results in as few as two sessions—we recommend a touch up every three to six years depending on your desired results.

A PERFECT BLEND

THE PIGMENT

We use a pigment blend that gives the natural look of actual hair stubble from any distance. It’s a combination of Keratin, a fibrous structural protein found in hair, and pigments designed to match your natural hair color. The pigment formula is a tiny 60 microns wide, allowing for more formula per square millimeter (for comparison, the average skin cell is 30 microns wide).

How long does SMP last?

Micropigmentation is considered semi-permanent. While the effects may last up to eight years, the treated area will fade over time since all skin naturally exfoliates itself.

While the color may lighten, it’ll only change if an incorrect pigment is used.

That said, if you have very dry skin, fading is likely to happen more quickly. As the skin tends to flake with dry skin, this can inadvertently exfoliate the pigment off at a quicker rate.

FAQ’s

How is SMP applied?

During a procedure, specialized equipment, with pigment designed specifically for Scalp Micropigmentation is used to meticulously apply microdots to your scalp to give the appearance of hair follicles.

Will the color look natural?

Yes. The practitioner will work with you to design and blend a shade of pigment that is natural in appearance and blends with your remaining hair and skin tone.

Does the color fade with time?

Yes. We use only medical-grade pigments, designed specifically for Scalp Micropigmentation. With time and sun exposure the pigment can lighten and it may be necessary to have a touch-up treatment to bring the appearance back to its optimal best.

Following your procedure, it is important to take care of the treated area. We recommend using a good quality sun block and a hat. This will help to ensure your SMP stays looking as it was originally intended, and help protect you from harmful UV rays.

Can you create a natural looking hairline?

Yes, we can. The practitioner will carry out a comprehensive consultation with you prior to the procedure to understand what is important to you and what you are hoping to achieve.

Together with your technician you can design and create a hairline that suits you as an individual. This is a very important part of the process and we always recommend a natural-looking hairline over a ‘fashionable’ style.

How long does a procedure take?

In most cases, 2-3 sessions are required to achieve the desired look. The first two sessions are ‘building’ the density and the third session completes the ‘feathering’ and ‘definition’ aspect of the procedure. We recommend 10-14 days between sessions to allow for adequate healing.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes. We stand behind all our procedures with a 12-month satisfaction guarantee. If your procedure does not meet your expectations after the third session, then we will complete a fourth or even a fifth session absolutely free of charge.

What if I lose more hair in time?

One of the advantages with Scalp Micropigmentation is you can increase the coverage should you experience further hair loss or find it just needs to be thicker in areas.

Sometimes people will get SMP to add density to thinning areas and then later decide to go for a complete all-over ‘buzz cut’ look. SMP is very versatile.

Does it hurt?

Some points on the scalp may be more sensitive than others. For example, you may feel the treatment more in the temple areas than the crown area. Most clients remark they feel little to no real discomfort during the entire procedure.

How much does it cost?

The cost will depend on the thinning / balding pattern, the size of the area to be covered and if any scars are present. To get a quote, call or complete an online enquiry form to book a free, no-obligation consultation.
